The number one need in all people is the need for acceptance, the need to experience a sense of belonging to something and someone. The need for acceptance and for family support is more powerful than anywhere else. If you have ever stopped to consider why some people pledge such undying loyalty to a team or peer group, it's because those groups, good or bad, meet their need for emotional security, expression and belongingness.
