CHRISTIAN TEENAGERS – spiritually mature and ready to withstand
When our children grow up and become teenagers, their characters start to unfold in various consequential ways. And the job of the Christian parent in raising Christian teenagers is far from over! These are stormy years for the teenager, the years from 13 to 19, and Christian teenagers need our help as parents in developing Christian traits that are essential ingredients in their future wellbeing.
Parenting of children is hard enough, but trying to be a Christian parent becomes even greater. And the foundation for an enduring and strong faith in our Christian teenagers is not only built through their friends, conferences, Christian camps, Sunday school, but mainly built in the home.
God has made it very clear in Deuteronomy 6:7 the task of parents in teaching their children the truths of the Bible and what it means to live for God. There are some tips that a Christian parent can try and follow which will help in raising Christian teenagers. Talk to your children and be open with them, let them know what’s going on in your head. Listen to your teen, making sure they know you are interested in the things they care about. Offer them choices to make them feel they have some control; this will foster respect but also teach them how to make better decisions.
